I don’t know exactly why I choose to come to Cartagena, but something “made me” come here. The climate is exactly my taste, about 32 degrees with a light breeze from the see, mostly sunny, in the night about 25 degrees. Since I didn’t get any work done in the past 2 weeks, I had to catch up with it and I didn’t get to see much.
The beach was a bit disappointing, it is not very clean and the sand, although very fine, has very dark color that augments the sense of uncleanness. Also a bit annoying are the many "Vendedores" that walk the beach.

The historic part of the town is very nice, colorful colonial style houses. It looks almost a little bit like Cuba. About 10 minutes away from it the Spanish built a huge fort. From far away it looks a little bit like a hill of rocks, but when you come closer you see that it is human made. It doesn’t have the nice features of a castle or fort you’d know from Europe, but it is very impressive for the large size and the sheer amount of stone it is built with. You have a nice view of the whole city when you’re at the top.

As I am told and experience it, this area of Colombia is mostly Rebel free. Apart from a few stories you hear, nothing reminds you of the problems that this country has in other regions. Also security seems very good, you can easily walk in Bocagrande and it’s beaches till late at night.

Leaving Switzerland in February, of course I wanted to go someplace sunny and warm. First stop was Miami, although only for a few days to wait for my tickets to Colombia. The tickets finally came per express 2 hours before I had to leave for the airport.

So I started this “project” of mine February 7th. For all that don’t know me; here is a short explanation of what I am doing.Being a person that has always been pulled out into the world, I got tired of being in the same place all the time, working in the same office year after year. Life seemed to pass me by. I wasn’t able to do what I really wanted to do. So I came up with the idea of combining traveling with work. Since I am working as a Software Developer (one of the few jobs that permit remote working) and the company I am working for was willing to try this “experiment” with me, I decided to try it, working 50% while traveling at the same time.
