We had one more day in the Galapagos and we went to the high part of Santa Cruz Island to see the giant turtles in their natural environment. The day was very clouded and rainy at times so we took a taxi instead of the bikes as we originally planed to. On the way to a ranch we already saw many turtles sometimes in the same field as cows and encountered a huge one sitting right on the street. It didn’t think of moving off the road so the driver had to maneuver around it. On the ranch we got into rubber boots and went for a walk with a guide who told us a little about the turtles. After that we went to see a tunnel formed by lava and before heading back the “Gemelos”, two big almost circular depressions in the ground.
