The ride was about 12 hours, as always at night I hated not being able to see the countryside on the way. But in the morning I saw something I never expected to see in a desert; fog. We found a nice place to stay in Arequipa in the Hostal Arequipa Centro. We relaxed from the bus trip in the morning and we took an extensive walk around town to see all the nice buildings in the afternoon. As I understood it most of these buildings have been destroyed in earthquakes but have then been rebuilt. In the Placa de Armas you get a rare chance to have palm trees and snowy mountains in the same picture.
