Heading north in Chile I stopped for a couple of days in Iquique. A town on the coast but surrounded by desert. The whole area is a duty free zone, so you have to pass through customs getting in and out. The city has a nice old pedestrian zone and a clean beach with white sand which appearance I liked better then the beach in Vina del Mar.
